What’s In My Bag: Lip Products Edit

IMG_1243

I really enjoy looking at other people’s What’s In My Bag posts and thought I would put a spin on a classic and show you what lip products I carry around with me in my purse. I recently purchased this bag and I was very excited about it as it was not too expensive (about $60 at Aldo link here) and gave me very 70’s bohemian vibes (like the recent Dolce and Gobbana collections). I also think it will be great for summer and for spring and to transition into the fall months.

As you can see once things get thrown in there they don’t come out (and I have an obsession with lip balms – I always need to have at least 2 or 3 on hand at all times.) These are the lip products currently in my purse.

LIP BALMS -;;

Smiths Rosebud Salve – I am obsessed  with this lip balm and anything from this company, I always have 2-3 on deck with me, whether it be on my person in my bag, or at my vanity at home. This one is non-scented and never irritates my sensitive/chapped lips, and is also perfect for helping take off any annoying stray makeup that may have found it’s way on your lips after applying your foundation.

Smiths Tropical Ambrosia Lip Balm with Coconut and Mango – Just as good as the first one, but this one has a nice tropical and beachy scent, great for throwing in your summer bag or for the pool.

Lanolips Tinted Lip Balm in Perfect Nude –  I actually just recently purchased this, it is slick and the medium pink your-lips-but-better shade it gives is very wearable.

Milani Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment in Healing Lemon Honey – This is supposed to be a dupe for the Clarins lip oil. I did not actually like this as much as I thought I would ; it feels very comforting going on with it’s honey scent but after a few hours I did notice more dryness and found there is not much product in the tube, as five uses in I am halfway through it.

Vaseline Rosy Lips Lip Therapy (in smaller tub) – I really like this because 1) it’s absolutely adorable to take out of your purse, and 2) it’s really moisturizing, and also it has a nice rosy glow.

Yes to Coconuts Coconut Naturally Smooth Lip BalmRichly nourishing, one of my very faves and is 99% natural.

Nivea Cherry Lip Balm – A trusty standby, this tastes and feels great and is lightly tinted.

LIPGLOSSES -;;

BareMinerals Gen Nude Buttercream Lipgloss in Groovy – This is really pigmented and glossy, and I love the plumpness it gives my lips. (Bonus: It smells like cake!)

Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss in Liar – I’ve reached for this one pretty often as it’s very easy to reach for for everyday as it’s a warm medium, almost mauve pinky nude. It’s very comfortable and highly pigmented, it’s almost like a liquid lipstick with a glossy finish, (It’s a shame because I think this might be being discontinued, or at least a few of the other shades are being offered at $11 instead of $22 at the moment so if you are interested hurry over right now to Sephora, Ulta, or UD’s website for the most shades.)

Maybelline Baby Lips Tinted Lip Balm in Toasted Taupe – Technically this is a tinted lip balm but it is very glossy and will give you a fully colored nude lip with just a simple swipe in an instant.

Buxom Full-On Lip Creme in White Russian and Dolly – One of my favorite lipglosses, these are somewhat sheer and give a perfect amount of color and also a slight plumping effect. also have a minty effect which I usually don’t prefer but don’t mind in this gloss as it is not very strong. White Russian is the perfect nude gloss to give your lips a slight pout. Dolly is what I reach for whenever I’m in the mood for a quick pink lip. These are both in mini sizes I received in various boxes and kits but I fully intend on buying the full-size of both because the formula is A+.

LIQUID LIPSTICKS AND LIP LINERS -;;

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow and Arrow and Lolita II – Amazing formula, it feels like nothing on the lips and stays on until you either eat or take it off. Bow and Arrow is a great cool-toned nude and I often wear it together with Lolita II as Lolita II is a little bit orange. The two shades together make a great everyday brownish-mauve color.

Kat Von D Everlasting Lipliner in OG Lolita – Richly pigmented, glides on smoothly and goes on great with any of your nudes, brownish-nudes, mauves, and warm-toned neutrals. Also has great staying power.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Daddy and I’m Shook – Probably my favorite feel of liquid lipsticks of the ones I’ve tried, I think that Jeffree Star has completely nailed it on the head with the Velour Liquid lipsticks. The applicator (identical to the one in Dose of Colors, below) absolutely hugs your lips and is so easy to use and distributes the product very evenly with no fuss. They are similar to the Kat Von D lipsticks in that you cannot feel them on your lips at all, though I will say that dare I say that they do last even a bit longer than the KVD as I have gone entire meals with them 95% still intact.

I will note that the colors do apply much darker than they look in the tube. On my MAC NC30 medium skintone ‘Daddy’ appears more of a true brown where I think it appears to be more of a nude pale-toned beige online in photos, therefore for this reason only I do reach for this shade less personally, though I think the formula is stunning. If I’m in the mood for a more ‘edgy’ chocolate shade I will reach for it. ‘I’m Shook’ does look like more of a medium warm-toned burnt red which I think can look somewhat retro and is very beautiful, and I think I will be getting a lot of use out of it especially come the fall.

Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in Stone – Finally bought this shade after years of seeing hype online, and so glad I did. They describe this color as a “dusty pink mauve” on the website, and it’s an incredibly wearable and somewhat unique shade. It is somewhat drying, which I am willing to overlook for the shade, so warning if you do purchase it you may want to prep your lips with a good lip balm (see above), or top it off with a gloss.

LIPSTICKS -;;

Charlotte Tillbury Hot Lips Lipstick in Kim K W – This shade is so long-lasting! It is really a shade I can see Kim Kardashian wearing, it’s a very pale peachy, true nude color, though if you are of a medium-to-dark skintone I might recommend wearing a darker lip liner with as it as it might wash you out. The formula is really creamy and it surprised me by lasting through meals throughout the day and even staining the lips while being a lighter color. In the future I would look into getting other colors in this line if they have the same consistency.

Rani Cosmetics Sparked Dazzling Lipstick in Latte – This is from Eshani (from Total Makeup Junkie 101 on YT)’s line. When I heard she had a makeup line I was genuinely excited because she’s very honest and I really trust her opinion and she also has really in-depth lip swatch videos. The Sparked Dazzling lipsticks are a metallic lipstick line, which made me more interested, because it’s really original to see a metallic lipstick in traditional lipstick form in a sea of liquid lipsticks (and I do think we’ll see more of that in the future.) She did a really great job as the pigment went on smoothly, the sparkles were really visible but tasteful, and it does smell like a chai latte. (For real.)

For reference, Latte is a brownish-plum with violet sparkle which is kind of an dark edgy color on my skin if I’m looking for a more alternative option.  Click to purchase here (She also has five other shades in varying scents and Note: She is coming out with matching metallic liquid lipsticks come 7/22 so mark your calendars).

MAC Lipstick in Hug Me and Metallic Lipstick in Silver Spoon– Going with the metallic lipstick theme, I actually have a silver grey glittery metallic shade ‘Silver Spoon’. Purchased this on a whim from the LE Metallic Lipstick collection during MAC’s Buy 2 Lipsticks Get 1 Free out of curiousity (also purchased -not pictured- MAC lipstick shade in Jupiter). It is very opaque and cool-looking although it’s a little bit out of my comfort zone- and I also had to layer it though just a little bit.  ‘Hug Me’ was the free shade and is on the complete opposite side of spectrum as it is a sheer warm pink and so close to my natural lip color that it looks like I’m almost wearing nothing at all.  I usually wear it layered with other lip products from this post of a similar shade because it does layer well and looks flattering.

So that’s it, that’s what lip products I have in my purse. Let me know, what must-have lip products do you have in your purse? I’d love to hear.
